The Ventura Festival More Than 20 Years of Movie Celebration

The Ventura Film Festival exists as an unrestricted genre international film festival that promotes recognition of environmental issues such as forest and oceanic conservation and restoration, through a yearly film festival and related events. The organization employs the medium of movies to encourage participation and generate significant discussion regarding these urgent ecological issues.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has presented countless films, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has drawn recognition from the international cinematic community. Over the years, the festival has grown into a significant cultural event that brings together cinema creators, conservation supporters, and viewers from across the globe.

Notable moments have included showcasing renowned filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the initial world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/mixed martial arts fighter martial arts icon Fabio Leopoldo, and the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story, which included hosting the complete Academy Award winning ensemble of West Side Story, encompassing Academy Award winner/Golden Globe recipient George Chakiris and legendary actor Golden Globe recipient/Oscar nominee Russ Tamblyn. The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was chosen to participate, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and read more Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and Golden Globe recipient Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay launch by Fox and MGM of the timeless West Side Story, which is commonly viewed by critics and fans as the finest musical of all time.
